Did You Know The Top TV Real Estate Shows Come From Canada?
You're probably familiar with HGTV.ca, but you may not know that many of the top real estate shows on television have Canadian roots.
According to HGTV (based in Tennessee) three of its top 10 most-watched shows have Canadian roots as do 11 of the shows in the network's lineup - more than any other US network.
What are those top three shows you ask?
Brother vs. Brother, Property Brothers and Love It or List It are all in the top 10, followed by Income Property, Love It or List It Too, and Buying and Selling in the top 24 most popular HGTV shows.
Property Brothers stars twin Canadian brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott and is one of the most watched shows on the W Network in Canada and on HGTV in the US. It probably doesn't hurt that the twins were on HGTV's list of "15 All-Time Hottest Hotties" either!
Love It or List It was on the W Network for four years before it reached the US audience. This top-10 show follows home owners through the process of renovating and house hunting, with the climax of each one-hour episode being - you guessed it - whether to 'love' and keep the updated home or 'list it' and try to find something better.
