Four fun things to do in Nanaimo this June
Summer is finally here and things are really starting to heat up in Nanaimo!
Here are four fun things to do in June:
On Sunday June 1st there's the Paddle-A-Thon taking place at Long Lake in Loudon Park. The money being raised will be used for a new community boat house and wash room at Long Lake. Plus you'll find a pancake breakfast and BBQ concession when you're done with your charitable paddling! Get more information at http://nckc.ca/news/
The City of Nanaimo is sponsoring Family Fishing Day on Sunday the 15th of June. It's a great way to give fishing a try and to take part in the trout release, search-and-rescue demo, games, crafts, group activities and much more. Family Fishing Day will be at Westwood Lake and you can contact Deborah Beck at 250-756-5203 for more information.
The afternoon of Saturday June 21st you can take part in the Shot Gun Tee-Off Charity Golf Tournament over at the Pryde Vista Golf Course. Come out and enjoy a delicious burger and drink before the shot gun tee-off starts at 2:00pm. The day will include a longest drive, closest to the pin, and a putting competition for bragging rights and great prizes! There's a $40 donation to play and you can contact Nicole Law at [email protected] for more information.
The Friday Evening Market in Nanaimo takes place on Friday the 27th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Diana Krall Plaza (formerly the Harbourfront Plaza) in downtown Nanaimo. The Evening Market runs every Friday through the end of September . . . Stroll the plaza and pick up your farm fresh, organic, locally grown produce, artisan baked goods, locally grown meats and poultry. Each week will feature a different entertainer for some local talent. Plus you'll find artisan vendors, craft vendors and some of our local shops will have items for sale. This is a fun thing to do for the entire family!
