The Pirates Of Penzance, the operatta that many consider to be Gilbert & Sullivan's best, has its final performance Sunday, March 1st at the Port Theatre on Front Street in Nanaimo. Frederic, a 21-year old ship's pilot apprentice is instead mistakenly apprenticed to a pirate! You will find romance and light-hearted drama in this play that will have you laughing and dancing in your seat to the South Island Musical Theatre Society's production. There more information and a complete schedule of the performance on the Port Theatre's website at http://www.porttheatre.com/ Do you believe in UFOs? No, not that kind . . . I mean UFOs as in 'UnFinished Objects'. On Saturday, March 21st from 10 - 2 p.m. the Nanaimo Arts Council and the Swap-o-Rama-Rama will be hosting the annual 'UnFinished Objects (UFO) Day' at the Downtown Library on 90 Commercial Street. If you've got some unfinished sewing, crafting, drawing or more . . . if it's portable, bring it on over. Things are usually unfinished for a reason, so if you need some help or just a little extra motivation for your project you'll find UFO Day the perfect place to be. There's even a UFO swap table if you want to pass your unfinished project on to somebody else. Ladies, do you sometimes find yourself chuckling when you see the semi-clothed male body? If you answered 'yes', then take a look at the Comic Strippers in Nanaimo this Friday, March 27th at 8 p.m. at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo. This fictitious male stripper troupe features some of Canada’s best improv comedians as they try to be sexy . . . but end up just being funny. There's no extreme nudity, only humour and you've got to be 19 years or older to attend this performance. And ladies, it's OK to bring your husband or boy friend too - if he dares!
