Cedar is located 10 km. south of Nanaimo, BC. Cedar is a small rural community that is a combination of farms , large acreages and smaller properties.
Some of Cedar borders on the ocean. The best access to beaches is off of yellow Point Road or near the small boat launch at the foot of Nelson Road
There's a nice Marina at Boat Harbor. Some of the attractions in Cedar include Coco's Cafe in the commercial area on Cedar Road. Coco's is well known for its delicious food and for being a keen supporter of adults with disabilities. There is one of the best farmers markets on the island held every Sunday from April until end of October.
Another Mainstay in Cedar is the ever-popular Crow & Gate Pub. It's a lovely English style Country Pub with indoor and outdoor seating.
There are some great Wilderness parks in Cedar including Hemer Provincial Park. It's located on Holden Lake and has an extensive trail system covering approximately 11 kms.
There is also a marsh area with a viewing platform offering up some great views of the ducks, swans, bald eagles and beavers. Holden Lake is a peaceful setting for fishing or small paddle boats.
Another lovely Park in Cedar is Roberts Memorial Provincial park. There is a small day use area on the beach overlooking Stewart Channel. You can park and walk down a 1 km long path to the beach.
There are many housing choices available for people looking to live in Cedar. Most of the homes are situated on larger lots and the standard City size lot that you'll see in Nanaimo. Many homes are situated on small acreages. It's also possible to find large Parcels of land with or without a home, farms and farmland and lovely Estates was some oceanfront and lakefront properties.
