Why would I want to relocate to Nanaimo?

"Why would I want to relocate to Nanaimo?" you ask?    I love being asked that question.  In fact talking about living in Nanaimo is one of my favourite topics!  Of course, I am a Nanaimo REALTOR and talking about the Nanaimo real estate market is what I do.   However, there is more to it than that for me. 

Buying a home and relocating to Nanaimo is exactly what my husband and I chose to do three years ago.  We left the busy lower mainland and chose to move here to live.  Yes, for us, it was a choice to relocate to Nanaimo.  It was a choice we have never regretted.

We love living here for many reasons but particularly because of the lifestyle. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to be at a number of lovely beaches in minutes.  The biggest treat for me is that sometimes I can have one of them all to myself!  For a city dweller that is unheard of.   If you are into boating you can launch your boat and be out in it in 20 minutes.   I often compare that to what it entailed to get out in a boat when we were living in the city.  Boating meant a whole day affair.  By the time you towed your boat through traffic to the nearest boat launch and got out on the water it could easily have taken you a couple of hours.

Another wonderful aspect relocating to Nanaimo is that the shopping is quite good.  I never feel that I need to go back to the mainland to shop.  Everything I need is right here.  Restaurants in and around Nanaimo are fairly decent.  In fact, my all- time favourite Indian Restaurant is across from the beach in Departure Bay which happens to be five minutes from my house!  If you are a theatre-goer like we are you will find that the PORT PLACE THEATRE attracts and books some very good acts. 

If you choose to relocate to Nanaimo and have children you will find that the recreational choices you have here are excellent.  Both of our sons have played hockey, baseball and soccer here.  We have been impressed with the facilities available to us.
